Retshidisitswe Ngqekeza is a South African visual artist from the Free State, now based in Johannesburg. His work, primarily using charcoal and acrylic on canvas, explores themes of identity, spirituality, resilience, and Sotho heritage. Raised as a shepherd, his deep connection to people, nature, and the land heavily influences his art, which reflects both personal and cultural memory. After overcoming personal hardships, including homelessness, Ngqekeza began his career in 2016 and gained significant mentorship in 2021, leading to opportunities for professional exhibitions.
